Nutri Courses

Advisory

Hello, Mr. Jelínek,

Can a woman drink green tea during pregnancy, or is it the same as with coffee due to the theine content? I read somewhere that a mother's diet before conception can influence the gender of the future child, what is your opinion on this?

Have a nice day and thank you.

During pregnancy, it is generally advisable to limit caffeine intake. Green tea is a source of this substance, so recommendations suggest monitoring the amount of this beverage as well. Compared to black tea, however, green tea contains less caffeine, and it also offers the benefit of antioxidant substances, so it is not necessary to eliminate green tea from the list of foods.

Regarding the influence of a mother's diet before conception on the child's gender, there is no scientific evidence to support this. The child's gender is determined genetically and is random. However, there are numerous studies indicating relationships and connections with external environmental influences, including the quality of diet (energy content, nutrient representation...), but these are not conclusive.
