Can Crohn's disease be a genetically predisposed condition, i.e., is it possible to "inherit" it?

Generally, intestinal inflammations are to some extent influenced by genetics. However, this does not mean that the predisposition to the disease is inherited with certainty of its onset (statistics indicate that chronic intestinal inflammations manifest in approximately 5-20% of people who have a direct family member suffering from the same condition). The development of the disease requires damage to several genes, and environmental conditions (such as stress and diet) play a fairly significant, if not crucial, role.
