Nut milks

Nut milks are a plant-based alternative to traditional cow's milk that has become increasingly popular in recent years. They are made from various types of nuts, such as almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, walnuts, and others. These milks are rich in vitamins and minerals, including calcium, potassium, and vitamin E. Furthermore, unlike cow's milk, they contain no cholesterol or saturated fats, making them suitable for people with high cholesterol profiles or those looking to reduce body fat.

Nut milks are also an excellent choice for people with lactose intolerance or those who have adopted a vegan lifestyle. Although nut milks typically contain less protein than cow's milk, some brands fortify them with plant-based proteins to compensate for this deficit. Due to their mild and sweet taste, nut milks are a popular choice for smoothies, cereals, coffee, or simply on their own.

Hello,

I would like to reflect on the quality of plant-based beverages.

If we look at the composition of nut milks, they have everything in a nice proportion and resemble classic milk.

Considering the production of milk from grains (rice, oats, buckwheat...), it actually seems like water with flour to me. The nutrient content is also not very good, and with a price tag around 60 CZK, it's truly worth pondering. Do you also recommend preferring nut milks?

Thank you very much.

You're considering this correctly. Nut-based beverages are indeed nutritionally richer than grain-based ones, making the price/performance ratio more favorable. However, let's not completely dismiss grain-based beverages, as some products contain a significant amount of beta-glucans, which is valuable information considering their impact on the immune system (oat products are supposed to be the best in this regard).
