Lysine

Lysine is an essential amino acid, meaning it is vital for human health, but the body cannot synthesize it. It must therefore be obtained from food. Lysine is important for the growth and repair of tissues, production of antibodies, hormones, and enzymes, and it plays a key role in calcium absorption. It is also essential for the production of carnitine. It is often used in nutritional supplements.

Hello,
Could you please provide additional information regarding the use of lysine? Is it advisable to use it long-term for frequent herpes outbreaks?

Lysine is an antagonist of arginine. In the long term, it is beneficial to maintain their balance. The standard recommended dose is around 3 mg per 1 kg of body weight, raising the question of what constitutes a higher or high amount. Studies indicate that doubling the intake in healthy individuals over a shorter period (around 1 week) did not result in any detectable side effects. Therefore, do not hesitate to leverage the potential of this amino acid for therapeutic use, preferably in cycles, in order to avoid long-term disruption of amino acid balance.
