Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented beverage made from black or green tea, sugar, and a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, known as SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast). This drink is renowned for its potential health benefits, which are often attributed to its rich content of probiotics, enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants, and organic acids.

Hello,
I would like to ask if it is suitable to drink kombucha during pregnancy, and possibly while breastfeeding as well? We started making kombucha at home, but once I ordered a store-bought one and it said - alcohol content about 1.2% and not suitable for children, pregnant, and breastfeeding individuals.
Thank you very much.

This information is legally mandated precisely because of alcohol. In fermented beverages, ethanol is produced by yeast through alcoholic fermentation from carbohydrates. Essentially, even non-alcoholic beer contains a certain minimum amount of alcohol (usually around 0.5%). Thus, it is a question of how much alcohol you will "produce" under domestic conditions with kombucha and at the same time whether you will be willing to consume alcohol during pregnancy (it is generally advised that pregnant women should avoid alcohol).
