I would like to ask how the thickness of a skinfold is measured?
The thickness of skinfolds is measured using calipers, specifically of two types - Best type or Harpenden type (they differ in the shape of the contact surfaces and the pressure they exert on the measured skinfold). The measurement is conducted at precisely defined sites on the body (above the bicep, above the tricep, on the thigh, below the scapula, above the iliac crest). The thickness is measured in millimeters, and the condition for accurate measurement is primarily the correct method of extracting the skinfold, which requires professional training and certain practice.
