Advisory

Hello,
I am interested in the potential negative effects of soy lecithin. It is commonly included even in infant formulas intended from birth. Is soy a problem in this case?
Thank you.

If the amount of lecithin is not excessively large, consider this substance not only safe but also beneficial to health (for example, it affects cognitive functions). Lecithin is used in the food industry as an antioxidant and emulsifier. In situations of excessively high amounts of emulsifiers in the diet (including lecithin), there is a potential risk of increased intestinal mucosal permeability, which affects the development of inflammations and related health issues. However, consider this a "specific" information, as an excess of lecithin in the diet occurs only in situations of a significant predominance of highly industrially processed foods or the use of high doses of supplements containing this component.
