Advisory

Good day,
how to drink properly during sauna sessions? Which type is more suitable, steam or dry? When should sauna use not be recommended at all?

Before using the sauna, it is important to adequately hydrate (approximately 60-90 minutes beforehand) and continue to replenish fluids in small amounts during the session. The same should be done after the procedure—remember that a sudden intake of large quantities of fluids cannot be processed by the body.

The choice between a dry or steam sauna depends solely on your preference. In the first case, you will sweat more, while the latter is, for example, more suitable for those who have issues with the cardiovascular system or have trouble breathing in a dry environment. Steam saunas are often enhanced by spraying saline solutions to support skin regeneration or address certain dermatological issues.

Do not go to the sauna if you do not feel 100% fit (colds, flu, infections, etc.) or if you suffer from epilepsy, diabetes, are a cardiac patient, or have an advanced form of dermatitis.

For athletes, it is advised not to visit the sauna shortly before a competition/match (at least 1-2 days) due to the high loss of minerals that occurs with intense sweating. This can lead to an electrolyte imbalance, which significantly affects performance, and the athlete risks injury.
