Good day.
I have a question about whether it is harmful if we intake more than the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of B complex. How does the body handle an excess of B complex?
Thank you.
Since these substances are water-soluble, the body eliminates any excess (mainly through urine). The basic Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) should be regarded as an average for the population and may not necessarily represent the amount an individual actually needs. In this context, it seems advantageous to intake slightly higher doses as a preventive measure against their deficiency, and in such situations, there is no need to worry about any undesirable side effects. However, it is possible to overdose on anything, and this applies to B-complex vitamins as well. An extreme excess can accelerate various metabolic processes and thus affect the functioning of certain organs (pancreas, thyroid...). Therefore, be cautious when handling excessively high doses.
