Good day.
Could I ask you for a brief characterization and some interesting properties/effects of Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds?
Thank you.
Every food is unique because it contains different proportions of individual nutrients. Evaluating foods in terms of their nutritional attractiveness based on an above-average content of certain nutrients is often limiting and constraining, yet it is common in Western thought (it is more advantageous to strive for a holistic view). Brazil nuts are essentially the richest source of selenium; therefore, it is advisable to monitor their intake to prevent unnecessary overdosing, as this can truly happen given the concentration of this element. Pumpkin seeds are presented as a significant source of zinc and vitamin E - these, in combination with phytonutrients, positively affect the prostate (they are associated with supportive treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia). Sunflower seeds contain a higher proportion of vitamin E. However, they are a richer source of omega-6 fats, which, given the increased proportion of these fatty acids in the diet of the Western population, is not a particularly advantageous nutritional characteristic.
