Nutri Courses

Advisory

Good day.
A colleague of mine regularly eats the leftover grounds after drinking Turkish coffee. I have also encountered the consumption of whole coffee beans as part of a Spanish drink. Isn't this too much of a shock for the body (e.g., due to the high concentration of caffeine or for other reasons)? Could the consumption of coffee grounds have any positive effects? I actually use it more for fertilizing plants :D.
Thank you for the response.

Coffee grounds are waste and should be treated as such. Consider their consumption as a health risk, as regular doses or larger quantities, due to the higher concentration of certain substances, can irritate the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. Scientific literature also indicates their ability to raise levels of total and LDL cholesterol, for which the compounds cafestol and kahweol are responsible.
