Hello,
how do gallstones form and how can their formation be prevented?
Thank you.
Gallstones form in situations where there is a significant imbalance in the components of bile (bile acid salts, phospholipids, cholesterol) - this gradually leads to the crystallization and precipitation of these components. Poor dietary habits (high fat content, fiber deficiency, etc.), liver metabolism disorders, overweight, stress, and side effects of certain medications are most often to blame.
Prevention in this regard is (theoretically) relatively simple, but in real life, it is far from easy - dietary adjustments alone may not solve the problem, as stress factors (which are generally difficult to eliminate), overweight, and certain diseases (such as diabetes) have a significant impact.
