Constipation

Constipation is a condition where the stool is hard and dry, and its passage through the intestines is difficult and irregular. This condition can be caused by various factors, including insufficient fiber intake, lack of physical activity, dehydration, changes in diet or lifestyle, stress, or the use of certain medications. Constipation can also be a symptom of certain health conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, hypothyroidism, or Parkinson's disease.

From a nutritional perspective, it is important to consume an adequate amount of fiber to prevent constipation, as fiber helps keep the stool soft and supports regular bowel movements. Fiber is found in foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Additionally, sufficient fluid intake is important to help fiber work effectively. Physical activity also supports healthy intestinal function and can help prevent constipation.

Hello,
I came across your sentence here in the counseling section: Consuming chia seeds on an empty stomach supports intestinal peristalsis and significantly affects water metabolism in the large intestine. Do they help against constipation?
Thank you

Chia seeds contain a high proportion of soluble fiber, which is highly hygroscopic. This has a significant (i.e., positive) impact on alleviating symptoms of constipation. However, it is always necessary to consume the seeds with fluids, preferably water.
